Change is in the Air
My name is Jessica and for the time being I will be writing the future editions of Museum Matters, taking over from Michael. Since I am new to writing a column and to the Museum, change in the format of Museum Matters is inevitable.
I’m the first to admit that my knowledge of Coal Mining and its rich history both locally and nationally is minimal. Over the years Michael did a great job covering a vast range of topics. It is now time to change narratives and not recover what has been done before. So I will not attempt to write the type of columns that you are used to. Instead as I am new to the Museum, I thought you too may enjoy getting reacquainted with it as well.
So, first of all, do you know where it is?
If you do, when was the last time you came for a visit?
If not, then why not go online and find our Website and Facebook page for directions and details?
Our website has been undergoing a refresh with new images and information added, I would enjoy hearing what you think of it. Could anything be added?
If you have already found us on Facebook, thank you for your support. We enjoy seeing your comments and love hearing from you. If you haven’t you can find it from our website or by searching ‘Waikato Coalfields Museum’ in your Facebook search bar.
While you are there you could leave a message on what you would like to see me write about in future editions of Museum Matters. Any suggestions you have would be welcome. Would you like to see a series of articles written about a particular subject? Or perhaps more to be written about tools and objects as opposed to stories?
With so many ways of making contact, I look forward to hearing from you all.
